Acne Scar Laser Treatments
To help with the removal of acne scars there are two main types of acne scar laser treatments available. They are called laser resurfacing and fractional laser therapy. Both types of acne scar laser treatments are considered cosmetic or optional surgery and so health insurance companies will not cover them. You’ll have to pay for them yourself. It is important to consider other options available such as acne scar creams or collagen injections rather than going straight in with acne scar laser surgery.

Acne Scar Laser Resurfacing
Sometimes laser resurfacing can be carried out in a dermatologists office but in some cases you might have to go to a cosmetic surgery clinic to have the acne scar laser treatment. Basically, it’s like an intense sanding of all the rough and irritated surfaces of your face. A laser light acts as the sandpaper and it tries to smooth out your skin in a procedure that can last just over an hour. It is important to have an anesthetic for this acne scar laser treatment as it can be very painful.

Successful operations can remove up to 80% of the acne scar damage to the face. But sometimes it removes a lot less. One of the advantages of laser resurfacing is that the healing time is relatively short for a facial surgery
